We look forward to meeting you in beautiful Kalispell and hope that you can take some extra time before or after the conference to enjoy the awesome scenery and activities.

Based on feedback, the last 11 conferences were all very well received and we want to build on these past successes and make LVR2019 the best yet. As the needs of the LVR community change, the planning and deliverables from the conference must also change to address these needs. With this in mind, we are going to do things a little differently from previous conferences. New ideas that we are looking into include, but are not limited to:

  • Two levels of papers instead of one (see the “Call for Papers” tab), accommodating academic research, as well as practice ready experience and case studies
  • A mentor/mentee program to encourage experienced practitioners to bring a younger engineer along
  • Encouraging learning from each other and questioning whether the “other” way of doing things might actually be better (other counties, other agencies, other countries)
aa
  • Getting back to hands-on practical workshops rather than lectures
  • Poster sessions to encourage more interaction and discussion
  • Shorter presentations focused on the take-home message rather than the background
  • Initiatives to inspire the next generation of low volume road engineers
  • Setting resolutions at the end of the conference that the TRB Low Volume Roads Committee and other participating groups can strive to achieve in the four years leading up to LVR2023
  • Pre- and post-conference workshops or training courses

Conference Chair and Chair of the TRB Low Volume Roads Committee (AFB30)
