Welcome to CalME, a web application for analyzing pavement structural sections using the
Mechanistic-Empirical (ME) methodology. This is the official structural analysis program used by Caltrans (California Department of Transportation) for
flexible pavements. It is used for new construction and rehabilitation including overlays.
The Pavement Program’s Office of Asphalt Pavements in the Division of Maintenance, partnering with the University of California Pavement Research
Center (UCPRC), developed this program, specifically for the Caltrans highway system and traffic conditions. The models are calibrated using
pavement condition data collected over the past 20 to 30 years in PaveM. Caltrans would like to acknowledge the
contributions and valuable feedback from industry partners, pavement experts, and academia. Thank you!
CalME is a dynamic tool and is expected to continue to evolve along with the state-of-the-art pavement technology.
